Lois Santos, a physical therapist at Marquis Tualatin, may have best summed up our collective feelings about the chance to be vaccinated. “I was a little anxious about it at first,” he recalled. “But being a front-liner, I needed to protect my patients and other residents. So I said, ‘What the heck, just go for it!’”
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to make a lot of challenging decisions, and Marquis and Consonus Champions chose in large numbers to help ensure the safety of our residents by getting vaccinated. For staff in senior care facilities, the national average of vaccinations is 38 percent. At Marquis and Consonus, the rate after the second round of vaccine clinics was more than 82 percent!
I want to keep our residents and community safe, as well as my loved ones.
Many staff members shared their gratitude and pride in being part of the effort by posting photos with their “I Got Vaccinated” stickers, and talked about why they got vaccinated. Corinna, a Champion at Marquis Centennial, said her “Why” was because “I want to keep our residents and community safe, as well as my loved ones.”
