For the second year in a row, Marquis leaders received prestigious recognition in the McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program, which acknowledges exceptional leadership, dedication and passion for the senior care profession.
Amy Bucher, Director of Operations, was chosen for a Hall of Honor award, and nurse consultant Vicki Nordby was recognized as a Veteran VIP. They received their awards in front of a high-energy crowd in a packed hotel ballroom in Chicago, Ill., on May 22, 2023.
In keeping with the party vibe, the winners got to select their own music for the walk to the stage. Vicki chose Sweet Home Alabama and Amy chose the Star Wars Theme, and they each danced through a gauntlet of fist-bumps and high-fives to receive their commemorative plaques.
In the aftermath of the festivities, their reaction was an expected mix of humility and solidarity with the others being honored.
I was very humbled to even be nominated, and then to be surrounded by all these great women was pretty special.” — Vicki Nordby
“I felt that I was representing everybody who works so hard to make each and every day meaningful for our staff and our residents,” added Amy Bucher.
Now that Marquis is on a two-year winning streak in the Women of Distinction competition, 2024 is sure to be another great opportunity to nominate more extraordinary leaders.
