Vital Life Foundation and one of our charitable partners Meals on Wheels People had plenty of reason to celebrate last month as both brought annual fundraisers back as in-person events! On April 15th, Vital Life Foundation brought back ‘Laughter is the Best Medicine’, an annual comedy night fundraiser, after pausing the event in 2021 due to COVID precautions. The event was designed this year to make the evening a ‘fun night out’ for senior healthcare individuals who have had to live an especially cautious daily life as they staffed the COVID front lines. Free Drinks and snacks were provided. Gift cards and concert tickets to an upcoming Alicia Keys concert were raffled off at the event adding some more ways to make the night special for healthcare staff. The event experienced a fantastic comeback, hundreds attended, over $30,000 dollars were raised in support of Vital Life Foundation programs and charitable partners, and everyone there enjoyed an evening of comedy and much needed laughs.
On April 16th, the very next morning, Meals on Wheels People held their annual fundraiser ‘Strides for Seniors’. In 2021 this walk event was held virtually, encouraging people to walk on their own or in small groups on trails in the Portland area instead of all gathering together at the Portland International Raceway. This year MOWP was excited to return to a large in-person outdoor walk where supporters gathered to walk and raise funds supporting MOWP work to help provide meals to homebound seniors and senior fight isolation. Portland Consonus Pharmacy was proud to support this charitable partner by sending a group of staff volunteers to help serve in the ‘kids zone’ tent at the walk. Meals on Wheels People successfully raised $447,000 at Strides for Seniors this year!
