Champion stories are all around us, so nominate your co-workers whenever you see great work being done!

Sometimes, Champions even turn into Legends. Every Champion nomination is reviewed to also consider whether an individual has risen to the level of Legend–making a defining act in a defining moment above and beyond the call of duty. Home Office leaders make the final determination of whether a Champion should be elevated to Legend status. Needless to say, being recognized as a Legend is a big deal, and the Champion you work beside every day could be a Legend in the making.

Robert understands the importance of human connection, even if it’s someone you barely know.

One of our Legends who made a defining act in a defining moment is Robert Thomas, Admissions Director for Marquis Newberg. Robert asked his administrator for permission to leave early from work one day. The request was granted, but what Robert didn’t say was that he was going to the hospital to visit a former Newberg resident who was dying and had no family or friends in his life. “No one should die alone,” Robert told the receptionist as he left.

“Robert understands the importance of human connection, even if it’s someone you barely know,” wrote his administrator in the Legend nomination. “I admire his selfless nature and the example he sets for all of us.”
