Vital Life Foundation and charitable partner Dream Flight honored senior veterans with flights that sent them soaring as a part of VLF’s ‘Spirit of ‘45’ celebration. Over 25 seniors took flight in one of two Boeing Stearman bi-planes. The day began with a ceremony that honored all those who have served our country as a part of the armed forces. Guest speaker Colonel Russell Gibson of the Oregon National Guard shared a story honoring legacy of service recounting his great Grandfather’s service during the attack on Pearl Harbor and founder of Dream Flights, Darryl Fisher shared about the mission of Dream Flights that is dedicated to honoring military veterans and seniors with the adventure of a lifetime.
‘Spirit of 45’ is a national holiday that commemorates and honors the end of WWll and the people who served as well as the lives that were lost in the battles to defend freedom. Vital Life is proud to celebrate this holiday each year with this event. Seniors, senior care staff, family members and friends are all invited to gather, honor, and cheer on the brave seniors flying in the planes. Over 300 people joined for the ceremony, ‘All-American’ lunch, and the opportunity to connect with seniors and friends.
